This weeks newsletter 15-01-21

Dear Parents,

Thank you to all the children and parents who have been engaging with the online learning. It has been another good week and we are seeing some great work from children being uploaded to Showbie. It is only the second week of lockdown and we are impressed with the number of children who are taking their home learning seriously. An even bigger thank you to parents as we know that home learning can be difficult.

Meeting for Parents:

Next week class teachers will be holding virtual meetings to discuss the online learning and answer any questions parents may have about Showbie. Please try to attend the meetings as this will be an opportunity for you to get help with anything you are finding difficult and a way of finding out the expectations for online learning. Class teachers will be setting up meetings on Zoom or Teams and will let parents know as soon as this is done.

Monday: 4.15 to 4.45 Yrs 1 & 2

Tuesday: 3.45 to 4.15 Yrs 3 & 4

Tuesday: 4.15 to 4.45 Yrs 5 & 6

On-site Attendance:

Please will the parents of children attending school (Key Worker and Vulnerable) remember to contact the school, as normal, when their child will not be in. Attendance is still monitored by the local authority and non-contact will result in your child receiving an unauthorised attendance mark.

Children in year 6 can come to school and go home by themselves, if parents of children in year 5 want their child to do the same, we must have consent for this. Please contact the office if this is your preference. Please note siblings in year 5 or 6 should not be bringing younger siblings to school.

The children on-site have been engaging with their learning as normal and have produced some good work. When asked, the highlight for this week for them, has been seeing the other children in their class when the have the live session in the morning.

Remote Learning:

Children’s online activity is being monitored to ensure they are engaging with the work set. Each day teacher will let the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) know who has not accessed their work and will calls make calls to parents. We understand home learning can be difficult, but children need to access their class work to ensure they keep up with their learning and not fall too far behind.

From Monday 25 January any child who does not access remote learning will receive an unauthorised absence mark, which will then be sent to the local authority in line with our attendance policy https://www.kender.lewisham.sch.uk/page/?title=Attendance+and+Absences&pid=26

Thank you for reading this newsletter. I wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable weekend.

Again, thank you all for your support during this challenging time.
