Welcome back to all families. We have started this term with some good weather and hope that some warmth will follow the amazing sunny mornings. A big thank you to all families for the smooth return of the iPads. As we intend to make taking home iPads part of our school practice, your cooperation with this is appreciated. We have an action-packed term of learning across the school with class topic’s ranging from the Stone Age to Ancient Benin, please ask your child about their topic and help them with research if possible.
This term we will be having a big drive on children being in the correct school uniform. We appreciate that over the last year this has not been a major focus, but we need to get things back on track. To help us with this, please ensure your child is wearing the correct school uniform; grey/black trousers or skirt, yellow polo shirt (white shirt for year 6), green jumper or cardigan and black shoes. Trainers should only be worn for PE.
Until further notice we will continue to ask parents and carers to wear a face covering when collecting children. Although there is a road-map to recovery, it is really important that we adhere to the safety measures in place. If you are exempt from wearing a face covering, please come into main reception so we can register this. Thank you.
A gentle reminder: Please follow the one-way system in place when collecting children at the end of the day. Thank you.
In line with the safety measures in place, we are asking parents not to bring in cakes or party bags for children’s birthdays. We know this is upsetting but need to ensure we are following the guidelines. Once restrictions are lifted, children will be able to bring in treats to celebrate their birthdays. We appreciate your support with this.
Would you like to help support our school in becoming better?
We still have one vacancy on the Board of Governors for a Parent Governor. If you are interested you can nominate yourself, or another parent with their consent. Nomination forms can be collected from the main reception or found on the school website. If you would like further information, please contact Mr Barr: email@example.com, who will be happy to talk through the role and time commitments involved.
School attendance is now compulsory and will be monitored by the LA and Department for Education. On Friday 30th April parents, for children where attendance is a concern, will be asked to attend a meeting with Mr Barr to discuss our concerns. Letters will be sent to parents early next week.
We will be refreshing our class names for September 2021 to ensure they are diverse and reflective of our school community. If parents or carers have any suggestions for author names, please forward these to Deborah.Ellison@kender.lewisham.sch.uk or drop your suggestion in the school mailbox at the front of the school.

Dear Mums, Dads and Carers
This is not the letter I would have hoped to write at the beginning of a new year and I very much regret the upset that has been caused by the confusion surrounding the opening of primary schools in London. Nonetheless, happy New Year to all our children and their famil...
