Thank you to all children, staff, and parents for another great week at Kender. Although the weather is colder attendance remains good and we are proud to say we have not had to close any bubbles. Please wrap up warm for 4 December 2020 next few weeks as there are rumours there may be snow!
It is important for children to arrive at school on time and ready for learning, as learning starts as soon as children come into school. Children arriving 10-15 minutes late are missing the first important messages of the day and over the week they will miss up to one hour’s worth of learning. Lateness can have a significant impact on a child's progress, our aim is for children to be in school on time every day to make the best progress they can. Parents, please help your child to achieve this.
Keeping in Touch
Please check the school website regularly https://www.kender.lewisham.sch.uk as this is where you will find all important dates i.e.. Inset day, term dates etc. If you need to contact the school, please call 020 7639-4654 option 1, or send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. Absence calls must be left on option 2 when calling to let us know your child will not be in school.
During these times 8.30 – 9.10am and 3.00 – 3.40pm we are asking parents not to use Faulkner Street as a drive through, as this is putting our children at risk. Mr Barr and Mrs Ellison will be on the Faulkner Gate from this Monday to stop cars accessing Faulkner Street. Please, also remember that there should be NO parking on the double yellow lines or Zig-Zag lines outside the school gates. Please help us to keep our children safe.
Children will be having their Christmas lunch on Wednesday 16 December. If you would like your child to have a Christmas lunch this will need to be booked and paid for by Monday 14thDecember on the Arbor school system. This does not apply to children entitled to free school meals.
Class bubbles have been practising for their concerts. Each class will record their songs on Thursday 10th& Friday 11thDecember. Children should wear a Christmas jumper for the two days. This must be the same jumper just in case we need to do any re-takes when filming.
NO Christmas Cards
Due to the current COVID 19 restrictions we are asking children not to bring in Christmas cards form home for other children or staff. We know this will be upsetting, but we need to keep to the guidelines and ensure we continue to keep our children and staff safe. However, the children will still be designing and writing cards to go home.
Classes will have their parties on Monday 14thDecember. This year Friends of Kender will be providing all the party food. Our thanks to FOK for making this a special time for our children.
End of Term
There are only two weeks left for this term and they will be full of festivity as well as learning. To celebrate the end of what has been a very difficult year for some we are making the last week an own clothes week. Children can wear their own clothes throughout the week from Monday 14thDecember.
A friendly reminder that the last day of term the school will be close at 2.30pm for the Christmas break.
