I have offered my thanks and praise to the children and staff this week. The children are being amazing; they are following the new rules and keeping their distance where they can. Most importantly, they are accessing learning and enjoying being in school and re-familiarising themselves with the routines of learning and being with each other.
Staff are working incredibly hard too. It is very different for everyone and we have all managed really well. I will be meeting with governors on Wednesday and giving them more detail about how the term has progressed so far.
Announcements this week;
I think we are all trying to understand the implications of the announcements made this week. This is no different in school. I must draw to your attention the form on the school website which requests your permission for children to take home an iPad and other learning resources. We are ensuring we are prepared should a class or bubble need to be closed. Also, if there is a further lockdown it is vital for the children that they will have the resources required to continue with their learning at home.
If you can check this form on the website and sign the permission this will help us to be ready. Of course we do not want to close any classes/bubbles; for now this is a precautionary measure.
One change we are making in the light of rising cases is that all staff will wear masks/visors/face covering when they meet and greet parents in the playground. All of the guidance around this for schools remains confusing and contradictory. So, at Kender we have made this decision and will follow this rule from Monday.
Parents of children who are wearing face masks to school. Please can you give your child a sealable plastic bag to keep them in whilst at school.
Parents please remember when visiting our school we will ask you to wear a mask/visor before attending meetings inside our building.
For children starting reception class in September 2021, we will be hosting an open evening. This is an opportunity for a parent to come into school and see how we organise the school day at Kender.
The first open evening will be on Wednesday 7th October. The meeting will start at 5pm, there will be strict physical distancing measure sin place and all parents attending will be asked to wear masks or face coverings.
Please check the website for further details. Dates of other open evenings are on the site too.
Any updates from Secondary schools concerning their open evenings will be added to our website. Please keep checking our site for the latest information.
You will also see on the school website a new site about the search for another Parent Governor. Please step forward mums and dads should you wish to further support the work of the school. I am available via the telephone or email should you need further information about the role and what it entails.
Thank you to all parents for notifying us when you child is or will be absent. Please remember if your child will not be in school you need to let us know before 9,00am. When leaving messages on our answer phone please speak slowly and clearly and leave the name and reason for absence.
This will be taking place on Thursday 22nd October. Please look out for further details next Wednesday, 30th September.
