I am so impressed with how well the children have returned. It’s almost as if they have realised how much they have missed school and have decided to enjoy and make the very best of all their time in school.
Attendance this week has been good but we need to work on making it even better over this term.
We will be making a short video explaining the process of applying for places at Secondary schools. We aim to have this film available by the end of next week. There will be details of how to ask us questions a part of this video.
The Local Authority are providing support too for parents of children in year six. First,
you should have received copies of the Bright Futures brochure - one for each Y6 pupil in your school. Please let me know if you have not received these by the end of this week.
There is a digital version available to download on the Lewisham website - please use this link to access this version.
Also, the Admissions team at Lewisham are planning a webinar within the next month. This will be an explanation of the application process and a Q&A session. As son as i have the details I will share these with you.
Another reminder, please note any child brought after 9.15 will be recorded as late and you will need to bring them to the main office; you will be required to sign in for your child.
If you are collecting children at the end of the day please remember:
Rec and Year one into the playground via Kender street gate.
Yrs 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 into the playground via Faulkner street gate.
All parents leave via the Briant street gate; it is a strict one way system.
Visits to the school
We have to reduce the number of visitors to the school to avoid Covid transmission. You may be aware that one school in Lewisham has already closed because of an outbreak and we have to make sure that we reduce our risks to avoid it happening here.
Parents may only come onto school premises at collection times. Except for emergencies, and in the case of a child being unwell, or suspected of having Covid-19, requests for alternative times must be requested and agreed in advance.
If you need to come to the school, please come alone and wear a mask when in the building.
Delivery of forgotten items will not be accommodated. This includes packed lunches: if your child has forgotten their packed lunch, we will give them a school meal but if your child is in Y3-Y6 this will be chargeable.
Please ensure your child has everything they need before leaving home, and before you leave them at school.
With regard to PE kits and water bottles, please bring these in on Mondays and collect them on Fridays. We can refill the water bottles as necessary each day.
Unless your visit is urgent, we ask that if you need to communicate with the school office, please do so by email (email@example.com) or by telephone (020 7639 4654).
Letters and forms that need to be handed to the school
Letters or forms which require you to sign and agree should be placed in the mailbox in the playground under the bike shed by the Briant Street exit. These will be collected at the end of the day, bagged and left for 24hours before actioning by the school staff. We have ordered another mailbox for the front of the school. Please don't hand any forms to the class teacher directly. Please be aware that we are working towards using email much more to avoid the need for the use of forms so it's really important that we have up to date contact details.
In common with all schools in Lewisham, the school meals price has increased to £2.40 per day. Only children in nursery, Y3-6 pay for school meals: children in reception-Y2 receive infants meals at no cost to parents.
Meals must be paid for in advance using Arbor. This can be accessed either using the Arbor app or by using the Parent Portal on the Arbor website. Please contact the school office if you need assistance in accessing this.
We are also asking that you let us know by the end of next week whether or not you want your child to have school meals. We are no longer able to offer meals on a one day per week basis. We need to know whether your child will have a packed lunch or a school meal and this will need to be committed to on a half termly basis. Please complete the form attached and return it to the school office by Friday 11 September 2020.
