It has been another action-packed learning week and the children have risen to the challenges really well.
It is getting colder and we are asking all parents to put an extra layer of clothes to help keep their children warm, especially as we must keep windows and doors open throughout the day as part of our COVID 19 practice.
Due to the cold weather, there has been an increase in the number of children being dropped and collected by car, which is causing some congestion and safety concerns outside the school gates. During these times 8.30 – 9.10am and 3.00 – 3.40pm we are asking parents not to use Faulkner Street as a drive through, as this is putting our children at risk. Please also remember that there should be NO parking on the double yellow lines or Zig-Zag lines outside the school gates. Please help us to keep our children safe, thank you.
The feedback from the virtual parent’s meetings on Tuesdays has been really positive. Although nothing can replace the face-to-face meetings, parents have said they appreciate the way in which the school has made the effort to keep them updated about their child’s learning. If parents have any feedback from Thursday meetings, please email comments toOffice@kender.lewisham.sch.uk.
Deck the Halls …
Across the school children are getting ready for the end of term celebrations. Throughout the day the sound of singing can be heard as children practice, in their class bubbles, for their virtual concert. Each class bubble will be filmed, and this will be put together to make a whole school concert, which includes a few songs from the staff choir. It has been a challenge, but as usual our children and staff have risen to it. Classes will be recording their songs on 10th& 11thDecember, which we would like children to wear a Christmas jumper. Please keep them in the same jumper for the two days just in case they need to do re-takes. Thank you.
Friends of Kender AGM
The AGM held last Thursday was well attend, the committee have asked us to pass on their thanks to all the parents who were able to attend. Members for the committee were selected as follows: Joanne Fuller – Chair (child in year 3), Manon – Secretary (children in year 4 and reception), Luciana Duailibe (child in year 6). FOK will be funding a whole school pantomime experience including popcorn on 17thDecember and the bubble Christmas parties on the 14thDecember. If parents would like to get involved with FOK please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. The children and staff would like to thank FOK for all their hard work and commitment over the years, which we really appreciate.
Staff Say Farewell
At the end of the day tomorrow staff will hold a candlelight vigil in remembrance for Nicola Conway. Nicola was a committed member of our staff team and supportive parent and will be sadly missed. A book of condolence has been left in the main office if parents would like to add any messages, or these can be emailed to Office@kender.lewisham.sch.ukand will be added to the book.
We kindly ask parents to remember that they need to enter via the Faulkner Streetgate and leave through the Briant Street entrance when they collect children. This is to ensure that we have a one-way system in place. Please do not attempt to enter or leave through any of the other entrances. We also ask that parents with children in reception and year one collect these children first as children from years 2 – 6 must not be taken into the reception and year 1 playground. Thank you for your cooperation.
Please put 18thDecemberin your diary as we close at 2.30pmfor the Christmas break.
Parent’s evenings will be held on Tuesday 24th and Thursday 26th November from 4pm. This will be a time for parents to discuss how their child have settled back into school and the next steps for their learning. As this will be a virtual appointment via Zoom, we ask you to take note of ou...
