End of a long half-term: thank you all for your support and encouragement this half-term. It has been. Really successful term with children making lots of progress and enjoying being in school and challenging their own learning. Now everyone needs a rest and we’ll be back ready for the second half of the term on Monday 31st October.
Film Night: thank you to everyone in FoK/PTA for their help in organising Film Night. It was huge success and the children really enjoyed watching films with their friends.
Halloween Cake Sale: on Monday 31st October at 3.30 there will be a special Halloween cake sale in the large hall. If you have time to bake some cakes or biscuits with your children over the half-term break please bring them and we’ll sell them on the day.
Children can come to school in their own clothes or dressed for Halloween.
Birthdays at Kender: I think you are all aware that if it is a child’s birthday they can wear their normal clothes on that day.
We have taken lots of soundings from parents and staff about children bringing cakes into school for their birthday. It is clear there are high cost pressures on all families at the moment and many birthday celebrations have been curtailed or considerably reduced in the light of these difficulties.
To assist all families we have decided to allow children to bring in individual cup cakes or something similar for them to share with others on this day, examples: cup cakes, slices of cake already cut, biscuits, fruit…
Parents must be aware that we are a no nuts school and that some children will have allergies, or intolerances, which will need to be considered.
We cannot and will not accept any cakes that require staff to cut up, or organise, as we do not have the capacity for this.
School Trips: thank you to all mums and dads who have attended school trips. Your support and time is so important to enable us to make these learning opportunities happen.
Communications: we will be sending out more messages via the Arbor App. To keep in touch please download Arbor Education from the Apple Store and verify your credentials so we can make sure any urgent notifications are received by you promptly. Any questions, please speak to the office.
Parent Governors: we are recruiting parents to join our highly able and collegiate team of Governors. Are you interested? Come and speak with me, Mr Vinnicombe or Ms Luxmoore when we’r eon the school gate. We might speak with you too…
Come and join us. Your school needs you!
Robert Vinnicombe: Deputy Headteacher
Homework is now well and truly up and running! A big thank you to all the children for completing their homework and bringing it back to school on time (it is set on a Friday and due back in on a Wednesday). Hopefully, parents now have more of an insight into your children’s learning each week and can help to reinforce this learning. We will be exploring the idea of after school homework clubs after half term, so watch this space… In my assemblies this week I explored some of our school values: co-operation with years 2 and 3 and confidence and celebration with years 4, 5 and 6.
The Friends Of Kender:
Details of the next meeting will be Tuesday 1st November at 5.30pm, at the school. Amongst other things, we will be discussing Film Night on Thursday 20th October and our Winter Fayre on Saturday 3rd December 2022.
If anyone has any ideas on events you’d like to see at Kender please use the Friends of Kender email
Have a lovely weekend
