Dear Mums, Dads and Carers,
Already this term is so very busy! Yet, it has been another successful week.
We’re delighted to be getting the children to the beach as promised last term. Year Four had a fabulous day yesterday and years two, three and five are looking forward to their trips next week. So are the staff…
Multi-Story Orchestra
Year Six performed at the Multi-Story Car Park in Peckham this week. This has been a planned event and the culmination of weeks of practice and rehearsal. If you want to see pictures please check our Twitter account @KenderSchool. I was so proud of all the children who took part. They sang beautifully, their behaviour was impeccable and were good company over the two evenings.
Thank you to those parents who came and watched the children. Having an appreciative audience for such events is so important for children’s self-esteem.
It was an amazing event and so good to be back performing live music.
Social Media
This week I sent a letter to all mums and dads of children in Years five and Six. Children attending any Primary School should not have accounts like TikTok, SnapChat or WhatsApp; all stipulate legal ages for having accounts and all require children to be 13 or over. A copy of the letter is on the school website and gives further advice about ensuring children do not have access to phones, ipads, laptops in their bedrooms at night time.
Kender Street Gate
Thank you so much to the parents who are collecting children through this gate and leaving through Briant street gate. We are keeping this system for a number of reasons, which includes:
- Faulkner Street will become a school street in October
- For communication purposes Senior Leaders know that all parents leave through one gate
- Most importantly, safety; Kender Street is a very difficult street for children to cross because it is almost impossible to regulate the speed and quantity of traffic using this road.
Thank you again, we are working hard to ensure children arrive and leave school safely
Car parking
Thank you to those parents who walk to collect their children. Walking and cycling is by far the healthier option for travel to and from school. I will also extend a thank you to those parents who park some distance from the school and then walk to the gates; again this is considerate and helps reduce congestion around the school.
Meet The Teacher
Please see the dates below. This meetings will take pace via Zoom. The teachers are setting up these meetings and will email the links. Please attend and find out all the essential information you need for the term ahead.
Kender Tea Party
Next Friday we are hosting a Tea Party. This is an opportunity for you to come into school and meet other parents in your year groups. It will take place in the large playground/large hall and will start immediately after 3.30.
So come and collect your child or children and stay for tea and chat. Posters are up and around the school site. More details to follow and which will include information from our caterers about tasters for the kinds of meals we offer.
We all look forward to seeing you there.
