Message from Take Over Day Headteachers:
Hello Kender,
The Headteachers for the day are Justine and Isil from Yr6 Almond class.
Today, all year groups have been working really hard. Most classes are on task. We are amazed by this great progress. What a fantastic start to the week!
10% of children are absent today.
Please make sure your child is coming to school every day unless you have a valid reason for your child to stay at home. Well done to the 90% of children who came to school ready to learn! Excellent attendance Y4! Make sure your child is healthy and well. We need your child to come in on school days; they will miss out on lessons!!!
Here’s some of the learning that we have witnessed around the school:
Reception) Reading and counting up to 20
Year 1) Handwriting, number bonds and making their book cover for English
Year 2) Writing a monster tale and learning how to count coins
Year 3) Learning about subtraction methods and suffixes
Year 4) Learning how to measure and learning about paragraphs
Year 5) Learning how to multiply and finding features of a newspaper
Year 6) learning how to make a fraction walls and editing their writing
Good job for all year groups, keep it up!
Dear Mums, Dads and Carers,
End of Term: thank you for your understanding over the changes we’ve made to the end of term. Although we have reduced unnecessary mixing in school, children should continue to come to school as usual.
All pupils travelling from England must adhere to travel legislation, details of which are set out in government travel advice:
If families are planning to travel abroad over the Christmas break please inform the school as soon as possible. We need to know dates and destinations of all planned foreign travel.
The Term Time Absence form can be found here:

Trial iPads: as a component of our evolving Digital Learning Strategy, children in Year 6 are trialling taking their iPads home at weekends and over the half-term holiday.
We will extend this to all children for the Christmas break. A form will be emailed out to all parents asking if you require your child to bring their iPad home over the break. Please complete this asap and those children who will take home their iPads will do so on Thursday 16th December.
All iPads will need to be brought back to school on Thursday 6th January 2022.
Parents’ Evenings: thank you for your attendance at Parents’ Evening. These are such important opportunities to discuss the progress children are making. If you missed your appointment this week teachers will contact you. We aim for 100% of parents to have had a progress meeting with their child’s class teacher.
INSET Days: a further reminder, we have moved one of our INSET days from April to January.
There will be two INSET days in January.
Tuesday 4th January and Wednesday 5th January will both be INSET days.
School will re-open to children on Thursday 6th January 2021.
Mathletics: Thank you all for the big push with Mathletics last week. The usage was up massively and the children seem to have loved using it.
All children have logins.
Awards have been bought and these will be given out each week for children to keep in class. They will also be given a certificate and be reported in the newsletter.
Mathletes of the Week:
1st - Natasha (Almond)
2nd - William (Coelho)
3rd - Tara (Hughes)
Mathletics Class of the Week:
1st - Coelho
2nd - Ho Yen

The Friends Of Kender:
This week we held our annual general meeting where both old and new faces turned up. Thank you to all who attended.
Now you may have seen we were going to do a winter festival after school on Friday 10th December, this was discussed during our AGM, and we feel because of how Covid is we are going to change our plans.
Friends of Kender will be providing biscuits and decorations to each class so each child at Kender can decorate a biscuit to take home and then at the end of the day we shall be providing warm (I hope) mince pies. We are as disappointed as you shall be with the changes we have had to make, but ultimately we want the children, parents and staff to be safe and well :)
If anyone has any ideas on events you’d like to see at Kender please use the Friends of Kender email
Friendsofkender2018@gmail.com
Have a lovely weekend
