EYFS

The EYFS (early years foundation stage) compromises the nursery ages 3-4 and reception ages 4-5.  The nursery is situated on site with its own entrance on Briant Street.  We offer full-time, part-time and compact spaces.  The nursery is a warm, friendly and caring environment.  We have five members of staff, a class teacher, 2x EYP (early years practitioners) and 2x EYFS apprentices. We understand that starting nursery can be an emotional time for children and families. Children follow a settling in procedure which means they are able to feel confident and happy leaving their primary carers.  Children in nursery follow a play-based curriculum called continuous provision.  This means children are able to access resources independently according to their interests, alongside more structured activities and themes planned by the early years teachers and practitioners.

Children leave nursery and transition to reception the year they turn five. Children who attend our nursery transition very smoothly to our reception classes.  Children in reception follow a more structured timetable that includes teacher led Phonics, English and Maths lessons.  They also have access to a range of learning opportunities both inside and outside. Supporting their development in all areas of the early years' curriculum.
